Abstract
Lewia avenicola sp. nov. (anamorph Alternaria sp.) is described. The fungus was isolated from oat grain in Norway. The fungus produced conidia within a month, and ascomata with fully mature ascospores within 8 months following inoculation, when stored on slants of synthetic nutrient agar (SNA) at 4 degrees C in darkness. A comparison with other known Lewia species is made, and a key to the five known Lewia species is included.Entities:
