Abstract
Quantitative suspension and carrier tests were used to compare the activity of Perasafe and Cidex against Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Mycobacterium avium-intracellulare, Mycobacterium fortuitum, and Mycobacterium chelonae. The interference of an organic load, and of hard water was also considered. Both agents achieved reductions exceeding 10(5)-fold within 20 and 30 min for all the strains tested. Perasafe is thus mycobactericidal and a viable alternative to Cidex for intermediate or high-level disinfection.Entities:
