Abstract
Shigellae are Gram-negative bacilli that cause bacillary dysentery in humans. This review summarizes current knowledge of Shigella pathogenesis and pathogenicity factors, invasion of epithelial cells, intracellular motility and cell-to-cell spreading, as well as components of the host cell involved in innate immune responses.Entities:
