Folic acid absorption in various gastrointestinal disorders.

L Elsborg, P Bastrup-Madsen.

Abstract

In a consecutive study of 228 patients with folate deficiency originating from various gastrointestinal and haematological disorders, the clinical value of the folic acid absorption (TRIFA) test is assessed. It is concluded that the test is a simple, rapid, and reliable index for folic acid malabsorption of importance as well as a research tool as in daily practice.
