Femoral shaft fractures in brain-injured children.

K Fry, M M Hoffer, J Brink.

Abstract

Thirty-nine head injured, initially comatose children with 44 femoral shaft fractures were treated by various methods. Thirty-two eventually ambulated. Tibial skeletal traction and skin traction were ineffective methods of management. Internal fixation or distal femoral traction are advised.
