Abstract
The tumor suppressor p53 triggers apoptosis in response to a variety of stress stimuli. Its role as a transcription factor modulating gene expression has been clearly implicated in this process. Two recent publications now argue for an additional direct role of p53 at the mitochondria in inducing apoptosis.Entities:
