Neuro Fuzzy Approach to Pattern Recognition.

Abstract

To tackle the pattern recognition problems first we give a new interpretation to the multi-dimensional fuzzy reasoning and then realize that new interpretation through a backpropagation type neural network. At the learning stage of the neural network fuzzy linguistic statements have been used. Once learned, the nonfuzzy features of a pattern can be classified. At the time of classification of the nonfuzzy features of a pattern we use the concept of fuzzy singleton. The performance of the proposed scheme is tested through synthetic data. Finally, we use the proposed scheme for the vowel recognition problem of three Indian languages. Copyright 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd.
