Leiomyoma arising adjacent to a maxillary tooth socket: an intraosseous leiomyoma presenting as an odontogenic lesion.

An intraosseous leiomyoma involving a maxillary tooth socket is described and previous reports of oral leiomyomas are reviewed. This is the first case report of an intraosseous leiomyoma. Although theoretically it could be of odontogenic origin, the tumor probably arose from vascular smooth muscle or bone.
