Abstract
Renal artery revascularization with angioplasty may preserve renal function and facilitate hypertension control. However, in a significant proportion of patients, renal function may deteriorate after the procedure. Distal microembolization has been implicated as a possible cause; it may be prevented with distal protection during the procedure.
