Rupture of a pancreatic cyst into the portal vein. Report of a case of subcutaneous nodular and generalized fat necrosis.

M Zeller1, H H Hetz.

Abstract

Nodular subcutaneous and generalized fat necrosis, due to rupture of a pancreatic cyst into the portal vein, occurred in a 57-year-old man. No report of a similar mechanism causing such a result was found in the literature. Multiple papular lesions, with microscopic changes in the skin, although not in themselves specific, should lead to a suspicion of systemic dissemination of pancreatic secretions into the blood stream.
