Abstract

BACKGROUND: Angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia (ALHE) is a benign and very rare skin disorder of uncertain etiology. It occurs in both dermal and subcutaneous forms, which are regarded as variants of the same condition. Clinically, it is characterised by solitary or multiple, red to brown cutaneous papules or nodules, usually located on the head and neck. ALHE occurs mainly in young to middle-aged adults, and more frequently affects women. CASE REPORT: A 36-year-old Caucasian woman with a one-year history of ALHE is presented. The diagnosis of this rare entity was based on the clinical and histological examination.
CONCLUSIONS: Although there are many methods of treatment, the final result is not always satisfactory for patient. We present our case as a reminder that cryotherapy can be regarded as an easy, safe and successful method of treatment in some patients.
