Abstract
Fat embolism syndrome remains a rare, but potentially life-threatening complication of long bone fracture and other surgical conditions. The true incidence is difficult to assess as many cases remain undiagnosed. This review aims to discuss the incidence, etiology, mechanical and biochemical theories of pathogenesis, clinical features, diagnosis, treatment, outcome and prophylactic strategies of fat embolism.Entities:
