Abstract

A 62-year-old male diabetic presented with emphysematous pyelonephritis and contralateral atrophic kidney. He failed to improve with a supportive management, and we placed a double-J stent instead of performing percutaneous nephrostomy or nephrectomy with marked improvement. We report a case of emphysematous pyelonephritis recovered by ureteral stenting. Copyright 2002 S. Karger AG, Basel
