The role of integrated care pathways in improving the patient experience.

Sandra Bryan1, Shirley Holmes, Debbie Postlethwaite, Nick Carty.

Abstract

This, the first in a series of two articles, will explore how an integrated care pathway was developed to improve care delivery for patients with breast cancer in Salisbury. This approach can be adapted to benefit both the patient and the multidisciplinary team in other disease areas and addresses NHS targets for increasing efficiency and promoting patient-centred care.
