Abstract
"The evolution of the Brazilian population size, its growth rate and relative age structure between 1940 and 1991 as well as its expected trajectory until 2020 are presented in this paper. After briefly considering the quasi-stability of the Brazilian population in the past, the role of fast fertility decline is emphasised in the current changing age structure." excerptKeywords: Age Distribution; Age Factors; Americas; Brazil; Demographic Factors; Developing Countries; Fertility; Fertility Decline; Latin America; Population; Population Characteristics; Population Dynamics; Population Growth; Population Size; South America
