A second-phase diaspora: South African migration to Australia.

S P Rule.

Abstract

"South Africa has experienced a significant continuous outflow of professional and technical skills in recent decades. The international marketability of such skills has encouraged a 'brain drain' phenomenon of the type which is common from other developing countries.... The most popular destinations are the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the United States. This paper examines aspects of the phenomenon, with particular reference to the South African community now domiciled in Australia." excerpt
