[Local cryosurgical management of colonic and rectal cancer].

Complex experimental investigations created the basis for cryosurgical treatment of colon and rectum cancer. 27 patients were chosen for cryotherapy according to strict indication. Especially developed instruments and technique are presented. A three year-follow up-study shows 19 patients alive, most of them without recurrence or troubles. Immediately after starting with cryosurgical treatment patients recover remarkably. In collaboration with the Dept. of Microbiology (Rhein.-Westfäl. Techn. Hochschule Aachen) the possibility of a special cryoimmunological response is investigated.
