Abstract

A new metabolite with an antibiotic activity against grampositive bacteria in concentrations of 0.1--1.0 gamma/ml was isolated from the culture fluid of Pseudomonas aurantiaca. The study of its physico-chemical properties showed that it was di-2,4-diacetylfluoroglucylmethan. The conclusion was confirmed by synthetic studies. Di-2,4-diacetylfluoroglucylmethan belongs to the group of the antibiotics, derivatives of fluoroglucin, characteristics metabolites of Pseudomonas aurantiaca.
