Successful treatment of a femoral artery pseudoaneurysm mimicking a deep venous thrombosis following cardiac catheterization.

Gregory M Gauthier1, Robert S Dieter.

Abstract

Access site pseudoaneurysms are uncommon but well-known complications of cardiac catheterization. We report the first known case of a pseudoaneurysm mimicking the presentation of a deep venous thrombosis by causing extrinsic compression of the venous system. The patient had complete resolution of the pseudoaneurysm and his symptoms following treatment with ultrasound-guided percutaneous thrombin injection. Copyright 2002 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
