Abstract

Cerebellar infarction has been described rarely during pregnancy, and there has been no case report of cerebellar infarction with hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, low platelets (HELLP) syndrome. A 39-year-old Japanese primipara had postpartum HELLP syndrome soon after cesarean section at term. Several hours later, she developed cerebellar infarction which was fatal. HELLP syndrome may have contributed to the development of cerebellar infarction in the case. Copyright 2002 S. Karger AG, Basel
