Abstract
The world's population is predicted to increase from 6.1 billion to 9.3 billion people over the next 50 years. Cancer burden is also set to increase with the ageing population and currently there are about 10.1 million people who have been diagnosed with neoplastic disease. By 2020, this number is expected to increase to 20 million. Perhaps disturbingly, 70% of people with cancer are thought to live in the developing world, which has only 5% of the world's resources. In this reportage, Clare Sansom and Geoffrey Mutuma, formerly Kenya's chief government pathologist, investigate the way in which this African country is facing these challenges.Entities:
