Abstract
OBJECTIVE: To study the association between early-onset coronary heart disease (CHD) and angiotensin II type 1 receptor (ATIR) gene A1166/C polymorphism and the effect of ATIR gene A1166/C on the plasma lipid level. METHODS: The ATIR A1166/C genotype of 71 early-onset CHD patients, 76 late-onset CHD patients, and 119 controls was examined by PCR-RFLP. Their plasma lipid levels were detected. RESULTS: Two ATIR genotypes, AC and AA, were detected. The frequencies (97.2% vs 92.1% vs 94.1%) of genotypes AA and AC and the frequencies of allele A and allele C in the three groups were similar. No difference were found among the levels of plasma lipids in the group of early-onset CHD patients with AA (94.1% vs 5.9%) or AC genotypes (2.8% vs 7.9%). CONCLUSION: There is no association between between ATIR gene A1166/C polymorphism and occurrence of early-onset CHD. ATIR geng A1166/C polymorphism has no effect on plasma lipid levels.
