Abstract

We report on a 3-year-old boy, who was tracheotomized for prolonged ventilatory support in response to respiratory failure due to spinal muscular atrophy. He aspirated a fractured synthetic tracheostomy tube. It was successfully removed by flexible fiberoptic bronchoscopy. Copyright 2002 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
