Abstract
Focal adhesions are dynamic structures in which traction forces are exerted against the substratum during cell migration and are sites for the organization of signaling complexes. Palazzo and Gundersen discuss how focal adhesions may also be the site of cross-talk between the actin-based and microtubule-based cytoskeletons. Microtubules appear to deliver factors that can regulate the formation and dissolution of focal adhesions, whereas focal adhesions contribute to microtubule localization and stability.Mesh:
