[Architectonic and diagnostic significance of hair cuticle].

Guard hair and spine architectonic were studied in 345 mammalian species using scanning electron microscopy. Comparative morphological analysis of the author's and published data was performed to systematize the available information. Original terminology and classification of the main hair cuticle patterns have been proposed. The hair cuticle structure patterns, their adaptability, and value for taxon identification are discussed.
