The reality of arthropod cuticular laminae.

J E Dalingwater.

Abstract

Examination of etched pyramids of decapod crustacean cuticles with the scanning electron microscope indicates that laminae are continuous around the angles of the pyramids. This observation is in direct contrast to the result expected on Bouligand's (1965, 1971) hypothesis and suggests that laminae may be real structures.
