Abstract

In this introductory chapter, the editor of this issue of Occupational Medicine: State of the Art Reviews briefly examines some of the market, social, governmental, and other forces affecting occupational health in industrializing countries. Evidence of progress is emphasized, and suggestions for better collaboration are provided.
