Abstract
The prevalence of childhood obesity has been steadily increasing over the past several decades. Because obesity is not readily amenable to treatment, prevention is very important. Children's growth should be monitored using the body mass index (BMI) and risk factors assessed through a dietary and physical activity history. For children at risk, developmentally-based prevention strategies include establishing a positive feeding relationship, encouraging healthy eating habits, and maintaining physical activity.Entities:
