Abstract

By reaction of NBu(4)[Au(C(6)Cl(5))(2)] with TlPF(6) in acetone the complex [Au(2)Tl(2)(C(6)Cl(5))(4)].(CH(3))(2)C=O is obtained, which shows a butterfly type arrangement of metals through short Au(I)-Tl(I) and Tl(I)-Tl(I) interactions. The last one is likely to be responsible for its luminescence behavior.
