Abstract
We report three cases of portal venous gas detected on sonography without any portal abnormality on CT. In such a situation portal gas could correspond to a tiny amount of intraluminal gas after blunt abdominal trauma or, in contrast, to large or very large quantities of high blood-solubility gases in case of septicemia.
