Sexual unattractiveness: a patient's story.

Individuals experience a variety of responses to serious acute and chronic illness. This case study examines one patient's psychosocial responses to body image distortion from peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis. It integrates research, theory, and practice, thus enhancing understanding of this response. Through the aforementioned interventions, nurses can assist patients to accept this psychosocial problem, seek further professional help, and thus improve their well-being.
