Abstract
An instance of melioidosis is described in a five-year-old Papua New Guinean. The disease did not involve the lungs, but the patient presented with an abscess on the abdomen and with numerous abscesses on the feet. The disease was successfully treated with kanamycin and trimethoprim-sulphamethoxazole. This is the fourth case known to have occurred in Papua New Guinea, and the patient is the first to have survived.Entities:
