Abstract
A case of intraarticular synovial sarcoma arising in the knee verified by detection of the tumor-specific SYT-SSX fusion transcript is described. Although it is extremely rare, synovial sarcoma may occur entirely within a joint space. The molecular assay for detecting a tumor-specific chimeric gene is a valuable tool for diagnosis of soft tissue sarcoma, especially for diagnostically difficult cases and tumors in unusual locations.Entities:
