Abstract
Macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) is a unique cytokine and critical mediator of host defenses with a role in septic shock and chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. Its mechanism of action is incompletely understood. Here, we attempt to correlate current knowledge on the molecular pathways of MIF activity with its functions in immunity and disease.Entities:
