Abstract
The bradykinin B2 receptor which belongs to the G-protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) family is known for its proliferative effects. The mitogenic signalling pathways used are "classical" pathways for GPCRs. Recent data from our laboratory show that bradykinin can also induce anti-mitogenic effects in proliferating cells using an "alternative" signal transduction pathway involving a protein tyrosine phosphatase. Besides this alternative signalling pathway for the B2 receptor, a novel concept of GPCR signalling is described.Entities:
