Abstract
Exciting new technologies, such as cellular transplantation, organogenesis and xenotransplantation, are thought to be promising approaches for the treatment of human disease. The feasibility of applying these technologies, however, might be limited by biological and immunological hurdles. Here, we consider whether, and how, xenotransplantation and various other technologies might be applied in future efforts to replace or supplement the function of human organs and tissues.Entities:
