Abstract
Growth factors and cytokines appear to stimulate the intracellular production of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Evidence suggests that this alteration in the cellular redox state is essential for downstream signaling, but the precise mechanism has remained elusive. A new study now demonstrates that ligand-stimulated intracellular hydrogen peroxide can specifically and reversibly regulate the activity of protein tyrosine phosphatases.Entities:
