Abstract
Stillbirths account for an increasing proportion of feto-infant mortality. Yet, causes of stillbirth are rarely reported, and the causes of most stillbirths remain unknown. Few studies focus specifically on the epidemiology of stillbirth. Major risk factors include high maternal age, smoking, and overweight. The prevalence of delayed childbearing and, especially overweight, are increasing in most developed countries. The proportion of stillbirth attributable to overweight is likely to increase.Entities:
