Abstract
Treatment of pelvic vein spur is indicated in patients suffering from severe leg swelling and pain as well as after thrombectomy or lysis of spur-related deep vein thrombosis (DVT). In symptomatic patients without accompanying DVT, secondary patency amounted to 100% after 2 years when the spur was dilated and a self-expanding stent was implanted. In cases with successfully reopened pelvic veins after spur-induced DVT and stent application, the corresponding figure was 82%. Endovascular therapy of pelvic vein spur represents a safe and effective treatment modality. Because of its less invasive nature compared to open surgery, stent implantation has to be considered the method of first choice.Entities:
