Abstract
The neuropeptide neurotensin has been shown to be closely related to central dopaminergic regulation. Although emphasis has been put on its possible neuroleptic-like effects, more recent data--in particular with the use of non-peptide neurotensin receptor antagonists--suggest instead a psychostimulant-like action of endogenous neurotensin. Such contradictory potential effects open an important debate on the possible therapeutic use of compounds related to neurotensin transmission.Entities:
