Abstract
We present the case of a 31-year-old woman with recent refractory bipolar disorder who developed a malignant syndrome preceded by catatonic motor features. This resistant case of lethal catatonia responded selectively to high-dose olanzapine treatment. The case illustrates the need to consider lethal catatonia in apparent cases of neuroleptic malignant syndrome that do not respond to conventional treatment with dantrolene and bromocriptine.Entities:
