Abstract
Myocarditis associated with bacterial enteritis has only rarely been described and the pathogenesis is unclear. Herein we report a case where a young adult developed myocarditis during the acute stage of an infection with Salmonella heidelberg and Campylobacter jejunii/coli. The patient's troponin I value was elevated. We suggest that use of cardiac-sensitive troponins may be a useful tool for diagnosis of acute myocarditis in the context of bacterial enteritis. We also suggest the need for further investigation of the pathogenesis of myocarditis associated with enteric pathogens.Entities:
