Abstract
In this issue of Neuron, DeVries (2001) describes experiments suggesting that acidification of the synaptic cleft can reduce Ca2+ channel activity and thereby act as a brake on tonic synaptic release of glutamate from cone cells. This work hints at a potentially important new facet to the regulation of synaptic transmission.Entities:
