Albumin binding of thioridazine and some of its metabolites.

The binding of thioridazine, northioridazine, mesoridazine and sulforidazine to bovine serum albumin is studied by means of equilibrium dialysis. For these four substances the percent binding in function of the albumin concentration is determined, as well as the apparent binding constant in the concentration range studied. The importance of the hydrophobic character and the chemical structure for the albumin binding is discussed.
