Abstract
A young man who ate large quantities of probiotic yogurt developed endocarditis and septic arthritis caused by Lactobacillus rhamnosus. The pathogenic isolate could not be distinguished from the yogurt microflora using methods routinely used in the clinical microbiology laboratory. Only by using more appropriate methodology, including PCR, the pathogen could be distinguished from the yogurt isolate.Entities:
