Multiple ostomy complications in a patient with Crohn's disease: a case study.

M E Parascandolo1.

Abstract

This case study highlights the many complications that may arise for an ostomy patient--specifically, a 68-year-old woman with a chronic history of irritable bowel syndrome. It demonstrates the importance of WOC nurse involvement in minimizing complications and optimizing patient outcomes. Further, it confirms the fundamental role of the enterostomal therapist in managing ostomy cases.
