Abstract
The Chinese version of the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) was revalidated among Chinese women in Taiwan during the fourth week postpartum. One hundred and twenty primiparas completed the EPDS and the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) four weeks after giving birth. The concurrent validity of the EPDS evaluated against the BDI scores was r = 0.79. The internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha) of the EPDS was 0.87. Results showed that the Chinese version of the EPDS has appropriate reliability and validity and a cut-off score of 9/10 is recommended for screening postnatal depression among Taiwanese women.Entities:
