[A classification of mandibular fractions].

A S Pankratov, T G Robustova.

Abstract

A new classification of mandibular fractures is suggested. Unlike fractures of the upper and middle zones of the face, mandibular injuries are characterized by typical location and configuration, which prompted us to undertake this study. Literal and digital symbols were used in formulation of the diagnosis. These symbols characterize the line of fracture, involved teeth, site of fracture, presence (or absence) of dislocated fragments, occlusive disorders, combined injuries, status of soft tissues at the site of injury, presence of inflammation in the fracture fissure and its severity. Examples demonstrating the convenience of the formula are presented.
