Abstract
Authors evaluated the neutrophils ability of creating reactive oxygen intermediates (ROI) in peripheral blood of 14 patients with endometriosis. These tests were performed using the chemiluminescence method. Enhanced ROI production and in vivo priming phenomenon of neutrophils in endometriosis were reported. The observed increase in oxygen activity of neutrophils was statistically significant only in reaction with the use of fMLP. However performed neutrophils preactivation with TNF-alpha followed by the chemiluminescence test revealed the occurrence of in vivo neutrophil activation in women with endometriosis. Reported data confirm the existence of local inflammatory reaction in the course of endometriosis.Entities:
