Abstract

OBJECTIVE: To summarize and investigate the clinical characteristics and treatment of placenta accreta in early pregnancy.
METHODS: A case of placenta accreta in early pregnancy presenting severe bleeding during suction curettage was analyzed retrospectively and the literature was reviewed.
RESULTS: The major risk factors for placenta accreta in early pregnancy were related to uterine scars from previous cesarean section. In most cases there was vaginal bleeding after amenorrhea. It was common that uncontrollable bleeding took place during curettage and hysterectomy was usually necessary.
CONCLUSION: Cesarean section is one of the high risk factors of placenta accreta in early pregnancy.
